Supply Chain Relations
Client: John Deere
Opportunity:
Like many manufacturing companies, John Deere maintains a very active supply chain management philosophy. During the end of the last decade, John Deere made the decision to pull out of several troubled suppliers that were experiencing negative effects financially as a result of the recession. New Standard had already been established as a supplier for one John Deere facilities and was in position to help fill some of the supply chain gaps.
Solution:
New Standard’s reputation for excellent quality and professional engineering support caught the attention of the John Deere supply chain managers. It was noted internally that New Standard was one of the few suppliers John Deere had with the capabilities of performing fabrications, weldments, machining and stamping. John Deere also noted that New Standard was an organization with the size and bandwidth to help John Deere engineering with both product development activities and product cost savings initiatives.
Results:
Production from several troubled suppliers has been moved to New Standard thus far. Since 2009, New Standard has received multiple awards from John Deere for contributions in both the supply and new product development efforts.
“New Standard is one of only 5 or 6 companies in the world that can support John Deere’s supply chain strategy for fabrications. New Standard fits across the entire range of our steel components strategy.”
